Graphic Organisers
Graphic organisers are a great teaching tool. They promote discussion and allow students to link ideas and topics. There are countless versions of these diagrams. Below are three examples.
Venn Diagram
What are the similarities and differences between two ideas/concepts/themes? The similarities go into the overlap of the circle. The differences go on either side respectively.
E.g. What are the similarities and differences of past simple and present perfect?
T chart
A versatile and simple way to encourage thinking. Choose the headings for each column. Perhaps Pro /Con or Plus/Minus. The possibilities are endless.
E.g. What are the pros and cons of learning a new language?
Mind chart
Put the topic in the middle. Place other ideas which spring from this in the surrounding circles.
E.g. Put the verb 'make' in the middle circle. Put some phrasal verbs using make in the surrounding circle e.g. Make - do
Enjoy
