The long wait for rain...

Hi All,

I have been having an interesting discussion with one of my students about the weather.

We have discovered that many textbooks regularly teach us the simplest vocabulary to describe the weather, but leave out more complex words that we use if we are having a conversation about the long term effects of weather like drought for long periods without rain, or torrential rain for very heavy rain fall. 

We are compiling a list of these words, which I will use to teach other students.

Do you have any favorite weather words, or phrases?
