Do you know how to "live in the moment"?
We all know how frustrating it can be while learning a new language. The constant mistakes, insecurities and annoying grammar rules can take over our lives if we allow them to. We study hard, practice with our friends and family, and we take lessons with teachers online. We are so fixated on becoming fluent, that often times we forget to slow down and enjoy the journey.
Learning a new language is a process, and it's important to ENJOY the process. Be mindful of all your successes and don't allow the setbacks to define your happiness when it comes to learning. If you find yourself getting frustrated and hitting a plateau with your studies, take a moment to regroup and find balance in your life.
Enjoy the relationships you are building with your language partners and teachers, learn to laugh at your silly mistakes, and practice being more present in your everyday life with others. Sometimes taking these much needed mental breaks can help center your soul and get you back on track.
Hang in there and don't feel like a failure if you are needing to "pause" momentarily while getting back into the groove of learning. Take deep breaths, relax your mind, and have faith that you're exactly where you need to be. When we start forcing a new language, the process becomes daunting and we lose our passion to reach our chosen goals. Enjoy the journey by living in the moment and letting go of the self-inflicted pressure to find perfection. Once you are liberated from your fears and pressures, a whole new world of opportunity will open up....
