The school was closed on a quarantine

hace 5 años
In Ukraine this sentence is very common. Whenever there's an outburst of flu and a lot of pupils at school are ill with flu and stay at home the school is closed for a quarantine. The school authorities see the attendance and when around 40% of students are absent from school they can choose to close the school temporarily. Sometimes students decide just not to go to school for a day or two expecting to get one week of extra "vacation". This usually works during flu outbreaks. My question is as follows. What is the correct way of saying, "The school was closed on a quarantine?"
