Sobre mí

Hi! My name is Zoia. I am from Syria and I am studying International Relations at the University of British Columbia.
One of the reasons why I am pursuing this major is that I am fascinated by different cultures and their interactions. There is a strong and complex connection between the language and the culture it is used in which led me to develop a passion for languages since I was young, hence I learned English, Spanish and Russian. While I was learning these languages, I came across many difficulties one might face learning a new language, and therefore, I have developed many strategies to overcome those difficulties.
My native language is Arabic, and I have taught it to international students when I was studying in Armenia! I teach mainly Levantine dialect. I understand that people decide to learn new languages for different reasons, therefore, I make sure to acknowledge the goals my students strive for and I customize my lessons in order to achieve those goals.
