25 hours in a day! (DST)
il y a 6 ansDo you have Daylight Saving Time (DST) in your country? What's your opinion on it?
MOST IMPORTANTLY, what are you going to do with that extra hour?!
In Canada, we have DST and it ends on Sunday. This means that early on Sunday morning, we will turn our clocks back and 'gain an hour.' We do this in the fall and spring to be able to profit from more sunlight hours. Historically, it was actually a strategy to save on fuel costs.
Do you ever get confused about which way the clock is turning? When I was a kid, my mother taught me this little trick, and I still use it to this day!!
'spring forward, fall back' --> In the spring, we spring (jump) forward (advance), so we lose an hour. In the fall, we fall back (return, reverse), so we gain an hour.
Some expressions about time:
- turn back time (thanks, Cher! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsKbwR7WXN4)
- press rewind / fast forward
- time flies (when you're having fun!)
- turn back the clock / turn back the hands of time
- better late than never
- make up for lost time
- beat the clock
- around the clock
- on one's watch
- high time
