Hello! I am Sam from London and I am a CELTA-qualified teacher with 10 years' experience working privately with adults from intermediate to advanced level. I speak Italian (bilingual), German, Spanish and basic French and I know how our mind works when learning a different language, and I will use that to your advantage in our lessons. I want to help you be able to speak fully, independently and freely by showing you the logic behind English: you don’t have to simply memorise its rules by heart as I want you to understand them so you are more in control of the language. There is always a reason why we say what we say the way we say it.
I specialise in Pronunciation and I can help you recognise sounds (with your ears and the phonetic symbols), physically and technically produce them in your mouth and I can also show you the rules that we have to choose the right sound based on the spelling of the word. English pronunciation and grammar have a lot of very quick tricks to understand the structure of the whole language and that is exactly what I like teaching, so once you have mastered those elements, you can focus on expanding your ability to express yourself accurately and in a more varied and colourful way, which is what makes languages fun.
If you are planning to become or already are an EFL teacher, we can work on the terminology and technical knowledge that you need in order to obtain your qualification and to feel confident in class.
