A typical Polish Babcia
3 anni faThis week I have more news for you from the Polski Daily!
A typical Polish Grandma is already kind of a stereotype. She knits sweaters and scarfs for Christmas, is a master of crosswords, and most importantly – she feeds you all kinds of delicacies! There is no food better than at Babcia’s! She would make you sandwiches for a snack, because “you must be starving!” - with home made pickles or jam, the best tomato soup in the world for lunch, some traditional Polish dinner and of course there will be cake for dessert! Grandma always thinks you’re way too thin and probably constantly hungry. „Come on, one more piece of cake, you have to eat, you’re so thin you might soon disappear!”
Secondly, there is no such thing as making an appointment with Babcia. She always has time for you, always. You can just come at any time of the day or night. The first thing you’re probably gonna hear from her would be „so good to see you dear – are you hungry?”
She would always come to take care of you when you were sick as a child and parents had to go to work, she’d intently watch all the Brazilian soap operas on TV and she’d force a 50 PLN bill into your hand for goodbye every time you come visit. „For some sweets or for a new book, whatever you need. Or go and take that friend of yours for some ice cream Dear, is such a beautiful May, people fall in love in weather like that, and I can’t wait till you’re wedding!”
No one would spoil you that much and with no other person you are such a superhero as you are for your grandma! I know it’s a stereotype, but from mine and my friends’ experience I’d say that a lot (A LOT!) of that is true! Grandma is a national treasure, full stop. Go hug yours while she’s around <3
Cheers!
