My name is Yvonne, and I am a professional English teacher- I am a native speaker originally from Michigan but have lived in the tiny European country of Luxembourg for the past 33 years. After a 28-year career in the financial sector, I decided to return to school to become a certified ESL teacher. For the past 11 years, I have been teaching English full-time. I teach for the market-leading private language schools, as well as for the National school system. I teach one-on-one as well as in groups. Teaching is my vocation, and I couldn't imagine doing anything else. My teaching style is student-centered. After evaluating the student's current level, we plan the target language goals together and work together towards realizing these language goals. As the lessons progress, I reinforce grammar where needed, but in a pleasant way. I have a veritable warehouse of material to put at my students' disposal.
Of course, we work on all four pillars: speaking, reading /listening comprehension, and writing. If the student wishes only to be coached in conversation, no problem. I give homework as it implicates the student and leads to steady motivation. I am patient and since I am also a language learner, I can put myself in my students' shoes. I am a kind and outgoing teacher. My current students appreciate my innate patience. My fluency in other languages (German, French, and Luxembourgish, (Learner of Serbian A2) gives me insight into my students' mistakes and assists me in my teaching. Besides languages, my hobbies include music, cooking, travel and I love to play trivia games.

During the trial lesson, we will get acquainted with each other through questions and answers. My questions are designed to highlight any grammar issues a learner might have. We then decide on a learning plan together.
