Spanish pronunciation tips!
5年前Achieving a perfect pronunciation is (apart from unnecesary) almost impossible. It's because spanish pronunciation is impossible to learn, the "rules" are not very hard either. It has to do with the different accent, dialects, colloquial language and slang out there that can vary so much within the same country (take Colombia for example, prononciation varies for almost each region).
However it is true that we can work to achieve a plain spanish pronunciation, so here are some tips!
1. Be careful with your vowels!
Spanish vowels are shorter than english vowels. Take Hola for example. English speakers tend to pronounce this as Hoouulaah, draging the o and the a. Think about this O the way you pronounce Bob and the A they way you pronounce it when you laugh "hahaha".
2. Watch out for the accent marks!
Think about the english difference between adress and to adress. The stress of each word is different and each refers to a different thing. The same happens in spanish. If you don't see an accent mark you can try to listen to the google translation prononciation of it to get an idea!
3. Work on your "D" prononciation!
English speakers often pronounce "Adiós" as "Arios" or something close to it. Have in mind the "D" you make when pronouncing "didn't".
Hope this is helpful, remember there is no "perfect spanish pronunciation" !
