The Italian modal verbs

6年前

VOLERE (want), POTERE (can / be able to) and DOVERE (must / have to) are called "verbi servili" or "verbi modali" (modal verbs).

We use them with another verb in the infinitive form.

For example:

🇮🇹 Non voglio studiare.
🇬🇧🇺🇸 I don't want to study.

🇮🇹 Posso entrare?
🇬🇧🇺🇸 Can I come in?

🇮🇹 Devi mangiare.
🇬🇧🇺🇸 You have to eat.
