Watching TV in a language you don't understand

I like watching international TV and films, even if I don't speak the language they're in. I'm happy to read subtitles in English and enjoy watching just as much. I'm hooked on a Dutch series at the moment, even though I don't know Dutch at all.

However, my friend said that he only likes watching stuff he can listen to and understand. 

I'd be interested to hear other people's preferences. 🙂
