"Pretḁ" (hungry Ghost), the supernatural being in Buddhist beliefs (Thai Study).

Pretḁ (from Sanskrit language), (Pret in Thai language) also known as hungry ghost, is the name for a type of supernatural being described in Hinduism, Buddhism. A transient state between death and obtaining karmic rebirth in accordance with the person's fate in previous life deed.

Preta ghost in Thailand is believed to happen to those who have hit and scolded their parents or corrupted greedily while they were alive. After death, by a result of karma, they are afflicted with an insatiable hunger but are not able to eat due to the mouth cavity becomes small as a needle hole even though the deceased's family engages in rituals and offerings to help them be full somehow.

Some Pretas are overarched above their head by the circle-sharpen weapon (Kong-Jakkra), which slashes them to repeatedly death and rebirth in Samsara (cycle of death & rebirth).

In Thailand, there are various soap operas & TV dramas that seem vacuous plots. Yet, you can still find productive dramas related to karma and deed. One of the productive-popular dramas names "Pret of Wat Suthat (เปรตวัดสุทัศน์)" which presented in 2003, describes how your bad deed brings you into Preta; a transient state after death but suffering as if it happens eternally.

🏅My 6 years of teaching Thai to foreigners, I am rather aware the significance of teaching Thai script than teaching Thai by Romanization, because no Thai do read Thai script in Roman letters (unless those who are Thai teachers to foreigners). I'm also proficient in assisting students get confident of speaking Thai with the proper pronunciation. To make the intricate principles of Thai script simpler for foreign student to understand, I customized my lessons of reading & writing principle conform with English grammar principle as I understand that most Thai writing rules cannot be found in English explanation elsewhere. As a former Marketing Analyst of 2 international airlines with a base in Thailand. Therefore, I can also discuss with you in Thai in terms of commercial, politics, work environment in Thailand, labour law & Social Security (Social benefit), business negotiations including business customs and etiquette, based on your preference.
