American English Proverb – 9

5년 전
Don’t cry over spilt milk
(don’t grieve about having done something that cannot be undone)

Example dialogue:
- Pam, why are you so upset?
- Oh, mom, I’m glad you’re back. I don’t know what to do. I was cleaning the living-room and I knocked over the crystal vase you bought in Italy. It fell to the floor and shattered.
- Come on, now. Don’t cry over spilt milk.
- I am so sorry, mom. I know I can’t replace it.
- It’s O.K., hon. It was an accident. And, after all, it was only a vase. It won’t do any good to keep crying about something that can be undone.
- Thanks, mom. I’m glad you’re not mad about it. How about I take you out for dinner?
