Is intermediate English limiting your career opportunities?
Many students stop learning once they’ve reached intermediate level, or their ‘comfort zone’.
They feel because they can understand and be understood, that this is enough. This is fine if you are learning English to travel or expand your social circle.
However, this is likely not enough if you need English skills in your workplace. At the least you are limiting your potential career advancement or future job offers.
If you want to improve, focusing on HOW you spend your time practicing rather than the amount of time is much more important.
✔Having clear goalposts. This is vital to keeping focused and motivated on your improvement- having straightforward goals to help keep you on track.
✔Technique- Focusing on accurate techniques is another important point. This prevents us picking up incorrect patterns and reinforces correct forms, pronunciations etc.
✔Professional feedback- This gives learners the confidence and reinforcement that they are improving, it aids motivation, and it encourages learners not to get stuck in their ‘comfort zone’. Learners gain the ability to instantly correct themselves and not fall into bad habits.
