About Me
Hi! I'm an experienced native English speaker from the U.S. currently living in Los Angeles. I LOVE teaching my mother tongue to learners who need it for school or business, or want it for fun and travels - or both!
I've taught English for five years online, in Madrid, and in Budapest. During this time, I have taught over 100 students in academies, businesses, schools, cafes/bars and homes, and online. I'm also familiar with all of the tests often required for school or work, including Cambridge, TOEFL, Trinity, IELTS, etc. I look forward to meeting you soon!
Where I’ve taught English:
Online via Verbling!
UP! English Academy – Madrid, Spain
Corporate Communications Academy – Budapest, Hungary
Belvarosi Iskola – Budapest, Hungary
Private individual and group classes
Levels I’ve taught:
Beginner – ~30 students
Intermediate – ~100 students
Advanced – ~100 students
Language areas I’ve taught:
Grammar – I am very familiar with all grammatical functions of the English language.
Vocabulary – many years of working as a writer in media relations with many different clients have given me a wide vocabulary...also growing up with the language helps ;)
Phrasal verbs - love them ;)
Colloquial English – English for everyday use and a better understanding of native speakers
Speaking – sentence stress, pronunciation, vowel sounds, etc.
Listening – talking about different accents, incorporating colloquial English and linking sounds
Reading – especially for exams, a good way to learn vocabulary
Writing – focus on formal and informal language use, emphasis on grammar, work emails and tests
More about me:
I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, went to university in Chicago, and have lived for long periods in Spain, Hungary, Poland, Colorado, and California. I love to travel, photography, scuba diving, food, family and friends. I also love improving my Spanish language skills and hope to be proficient one day!
