IELTS vs TOEFL

Hi All,

"Which one is best, IELTS or TOEFL?" 

I have had this question many times during my teaching career, and the best answer I've ever heard was given by one of my colleges in China who replied: 'It depends on who you are!"

Students who excel at the IELTS test are usually student who have a better understanding of conversational English and who can speak about many topics very quickly and easily. In my experience, younger students do better at the IELTS than older.

TOEFL is more directed at academic students who need those few moments to prepare and consider their answers. My older more professional students tend to prefer this testing system.

When you really look at these two systems, it's best to try out a few lessons with each and to see which one you like more.
