"pronounced "hal" هل In Arabic the word
signifies a yes or no question. Most statements can be turned into questions simply by adding “hal” to the beginning, a question mark to the end, and changing your tone of voice to be questioning

He is a student.= هو طالب huwa Taalib.
You are sad. =.أنتِ حزينة anti Hazina.

To answer a yes or no question, start with "yes" or "no". laa = no = لا
naam=yes = نعم
aywa=yes = أيوة
is widely used colloquial term for it as well ـأيوة .. is the Standard Arabic "yes" نعم While
