關於我
SALAAM!
What could be better than PEACE to start this teacher-student relationship with, huh? =)
My name is Reem, I'm 27 years old, and I'm currently living in Istanbul chasing fluency in Turkish language.
Teaching Arabic isn't just a profession I do to earn my keep. It's something I enjoy. I was born to a Tunisian father and a Moroccan mother, and that Tunisian-Moroccan-French "cocktail" we speak at home never ceased to amaze me as a kid. I grew up with a thirst for languages, and I was quite taken by how diverse the Arabic language is, so I chose it as my major in university.
Dictionaries, Fus'ha, dialects, diglossia, classical Arabic, etymology, loanwords, historical linguistics: that's where I enjoy the most. And the more I learn about Arabic, the better I become as a teacher.
And I have to say, the second best way to become a good teacher is questions asked by Arabic learners! They are VERY inspiring.
Et voilà, I had my Bachelor degree in Arabic language, then did my master in Arabic linguistics (Thesis: Learning Arabic as a Foreign Language Through Smartphone Applications), and I've been teaching online and onground for more than 5 years now.
I try to make my lessons as fun and effective as possible, I don't use boring long texts or vocabulary lists: it's always a mixture of audio visual material and consistent practice/use of the language as a way to make the most of our lesson.
