Goal of Learning A Language

Hi Ahmad.
As teachers, we need to balance two important overall "meta tasks", namely: "using language in order to learn the language" and "learning the language in order to use it".
Whatever we do with our students, we're always having them do one or other of these two things, occasionally (if we can manage it), both of them at the same time. Depending on what any given student's aims, goals and intentions are, we may need to lean more heavily in one direction rather than the other, but we're always doing either one or the other or both, and we do ourselves and our students a big favour by being proactively aware of which of these we're doing at any given moment and why we've made that choice.
