HOW CAN SERBIAN MUSIC HELP YOU TO GET A VOCABULARY?

Music doesn't serve us just to have fun and to make parties. If we analyze each song very carefully we're going to discover so many things that we like/dislike. Also when we're happy then we enjoy in the rhythm, no matter which kind of letters is going to contain. However, when we are sad and in a trouble, then we start to understand the lyrics and the emotions that a singer tried to explain us with this song and to help us wake up the ours.
Do you think it's impossible to learn a vocabulary with music? If your answer is "Yes" then you're wrong because music definitely makes you hypnotized and force you do discover all beauties that it contains: melody, lyrics, a way of singer's singing etc. That's not all. After that, music becomes like a drug for you because you're so depend on that song that you like so much. Also, you always try to find some songs more from that singer/band to enjoy more and more. At some moment you're going to be like a fly in the spider's red, so practically you're going to be "obligated" to learn every day more and more, no matter if you wanted/planned it or not.

WHY SHOULD WE LEARN NEW LANGUAGE WITH MUSIC?
There are so many reasons:
1. It is very interesting and funny
2. You're going to be relaxed and joyful during your learning.
3. Every day you're going to repeat the lyrics of your favorite song and repeating is so important for your Serbian studies.
etc
Trust me, you're not going to regret if you try to do it.
Let's see how it work?
1. Greetings in Serbian (Dragana Mirković - Dobro jutro) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTNSgf3Mo8s
Refren (REFRAIN) Dobro jutro, dobar dan (Good morning, good afternoon) doš'o dragi u moj stan (my dear came into my apartmentliterally "dear" , but we'd say "my dear) dragi ima čudnu moć (my dear has a weard power) zbogom tugo, laku noć (Goodbye sadness, good night)
Dobro jutro, dobar dan (Good morning, good afternoon) došla sreca u moj stan (happiness came into my apartment) sreća ima pravu moć (Happiness has a true power) zbogom tugo, laku noć (Goodbye sadness, good night)
Dobro jutro, dobar dan (Good morning, good afternoon) došla ljubav u moj stan (Love came into my apartment) ljubav ima slatku moć (Love has a sweet power) zbogom tugo, laku noć (Goodbye sadness, good night)
Refren (REFRAIN)
Let's see what do these greetings mean and what greetings this singer didn't mention in this song:
1. ćao (neformalan oblik) - hi,bye (informal form) , zdravo (formalan oblik) - hello (formal form)
ćao i zdravo su pozdravi - hi,bye and hello are greetings
You use zdravo ONLY when you come.
2. Dobro jutro - Good morning
To je pozdrav - It is greeting.
Dobar dan - good afternoon
Dobar dan je pozdra - Good afternoon is greeting
We use it during a day.
Dobro veče - Good evening.
Dobro veče je pozdrav - Good evening is greeting
We use it in the hours of evening.
You use it in the morning when you get up from the bed.
Laku noć - Good night
Laku noć je pozdrav - Good night is greeting.
We use it in the night when we go to sleep.
Do viđenja, zbogom (Goodbye - formal forms)
Do viđenja and zbogom su pozdravi
Do viđenja means that you are going to see each other next time.
Zbogom means that you want to say goodbye for some time and you do not expect too much that you're going to meet each other again.
When you go, you also can say " Vidimo se uskoro - See you soon" (when you expact you're going to see each other at some moment).

Dobar dan - good afternoon
Dobar dan je pozdra - Good afternoon is greeting
We use it during a day.
Dobro veče - Good evening.
Dobro veče je pozdrav - Good evening is greeting
We use it in the hours of evening.

The next song is going to explain you further how we usually use "zbogom - goodbye"
Igor Lugonjić - Zbogom, zbogom bivši brate:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCdkqv0ubD8
Sve si znao ti o njoj --- You knew everything about her sve sam tebi rek'o -- I told everything to you (He could also say: "Sve sam tebi rekao") bio si mi u životu --- In my life you were i nešto i neko --- Someone and something
Refren 2x Zbogom, zbogom, bivši brate ---- Goodbye, goodbye, ex brother idi ženi toj --- Go to that woman's place i za sva vremena zbogom ---- and goodbye for all times ti nisi brat moj --- you're not my brother
Ma, neka je ona sva --- Let her be completely neverna do bola --- Unfaithful so much (literally "unfaithful until a pain") nisi smeo to da radiš --- You couldn't do that jer bila je moja --- because she was mine
Refren 2x --- Refrain 2x
Izdao si mene ti --- You betrayed me a to boli jako -- - and it hurts so much meni vise niši ništa --- Now you're nothing to me ti si hteo tako --- You wanted it
Refren --- Refrain
As you can note, he is betrayed so hard and that's why he said to him "zbogom". Just like in this song we use this "zbogom" usually when we're angry so much on someone or we're very hurt and dissappointed.
Ok, so I'm pretty sure you think: "OK, that's ok, but you teach us only about greetings. Is there anything else we can learn from Serbian music? "
Of course there are so many things.

Let's see how does the vocabulary for cloths look like in the next song:
Brzi - Cipela me žulja
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZxxVIH8EYY
Kao sunce kad za oblake zađe --- Just when the Sun comes behind the clouds
ko ulicu stranac što ne zna da nađe ---Just like a foreigner doesn't know how to find a street
kao što se Bogu za oproštaj molim --- Just like I pray God to forgive me
bez tebe je isto k'o zub kad zaboli --- Without you is just like when tooth starts to ache
Refren 2x
K'o do lanjskog snega do mene ti stalo --- You care about me just like about a snow who comes late
cipela me žulja, odelo mi malo --- A shoe pinches me, a suite is small to me
košulja mi tesna, smeta mi kravata --- a shirt narrowly, a tie isn't comfort to me
kome li si noćas jabuka od zlata? --- For which man are you a golden apple this night?
Kao pevač kad zaboravi reči --- Just like a singer when he forgets his lyrics
k'o pijanac kad tugu rakijom leči --- Just like an alcoholic man who curse his sadness with Rakija (It's a strong alcoholic drink made by fruit.. it's a bit similar to Tekila, but much stronger. )
kao što se Bogu za oproštaj molim --- Just like I pray God to forgive me
bez tebe je isto k'o zub kad zaboli --- Without you is just like when tooth starts to ache
Refren 4x (Refrain 4x)
I'm pretty sure that this song made you laugh when you were listening to this and when you were reading the lyrics.

Let's see some vocabulary that he didn't mention:
Farmerice/farmerke - Jeans
It's a kind of cloths
We usually wear it when we go somewhere.
I usually wear jeans when I go to the downtown.
Haljina - Dress
Venčanica - Wedding dress
At the end, we're going to see a vocabulary for the human's body
Glava - head , ramena - shouldres, ruke - arms, šake - hands
noge - legs, zubi - teeth, srce - heart, telo - heart, oči - eyes
usne - lips, usta - mouth, stomak - stomach, leđa - back
prsti - fingers, toes , kosa - hair , kolena - knees

Svetlana Ceca Ražnatović: Volim te (I love you)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPwgepV8O2g
Želim te, tako te silno želim --- I desire you, I desire you so much al' reči dve ne mogu reći sve --- but two words cannot tell you everything kol'ko bi rekle usne --- just like it would tell you my lips kad bi te ljubile -- if they would kiss you (2x)
Refren 2x ---- Refrain Volim te, tako te ludo volim --- I love you, I love you so craziness al' reči dve ne mogu reći sve --- but two words cannot tell you everything kol'ko bi rekle ruke --- just like my arms would tell you kad bi te grlile --- if they would hug you
Trebaš mi, tako mi jako trebaš --- I need you, I need you so much al' reči dve ne mogu reći sve --- but two words cannot tell you everything kol'ko bi reklo telo --- Just like my body would tell you kad bi te volelo --- if it would love you (2x)
Refren 2x ---- Refrain 2x
Veruj mi, tebi ću dati sve --- Believe me, I am going to give you everything dođi što pre, srce mi umire --- Come as soon as you can, my heart is dying noći su moje hladne --- My nights are cold dođi i uzmi me -- come and make love with me (literally : "take me" ) (2x)
Refren 2x --- Refrain 2x
INSTEAD OF THE END
I'm sure you're thinking now, what are you going to bother us a bit more.

Hello, my name is Suzana. I'm from Serbia. I'm 36 years old. Firstly, I’m a professional language teacher. I’ve been working on Italki as a professional teacher for 1 year and six months (and I’ve been also working as an informal tutor for two years). Secondly, I’ve been working as a Serbian language expert for three years and three months: I created Serbian lessons and taught foreign people my native language. Third, I’ve been a translator for one year and six months: I translated English and Spanish lessons to Serbian. Also, I translated the synopses of the movies from English to Serbian. Finally, I'm a language expert who speaks many languages. I correct English, Spanish and Italian exercises, and I explain all grammar rules so that they can be understood by other people. My lessons are very creative, interesting and fun. I am going to teach you how to read, speak and write step by step. When you finish my Serbian classes, you're going to be ready to speak in Serbian without any...
