Thoughts for Summer 1
School is out and summer is upon us. Thanks to this global pandemic, however, it does not quite feel like a typical summer. Many just finished homeschooling their children during the quarantine and are now wondering what to do with their kids for summer.
Here are a couple of ideas:
Recruit family members.
That’s right, even during a quarantine you can call on family members to help entertain your kids and give yourself a moment’s break. Utilize Skype, Zoom, Facetime, and of course, your adorable children. Nothing sways a family member like the doe eyes of a young relative.
On a video chat or conference call, your relative can have story time with your younger children by reading a book aloud. It does not have to be a book in their home. There are lots of great (and free) digital children’s books online. I used Epic! (getepic.com) in my first grade classroom this year.
Of course, your relative may choose instead to simply talk. Conversations between family members of different generations are always heartwarming! Sure, your relative may choose to relay a particularly embarrassing story about you, but it is alright. After all, you will finally be rewarded with a few well deserved moments during this quarantined summer.
Use me!
Sign your child up for English lessons with me. I’m happy to give you a break while strengthening your child’s English. Or, sign yourself up! I love teaching children and adults. With a committed weekly schedule, your family will know not to disturb you during class.
Happy Summer!
