Booking Your First Lesson
Breaking the Ice
Are you looking to book your first English lesson? It can be quite daunting as you don't know what to expect. I have created a few typical discussion topics to help you to get started.
What are your hobbies?
Do you enjoy fishing? Which is your favorite sport? Are you a 'foodie' and enjoy tasting new dishes and flavors? It is a good idea to start with a topic you know as you already have a deep knowledge base in your native language and it is easier to link a new vocabulary to terminology and concepts you know well. If you are discussing something you enjoy it is likely to relax you and help you to gain the most understanding from your lesson.
Travelling
One of the motivating factors when learning a language is the freedom it allows you when travelling. Have you traveled before? What is your favorite aspect of traveling? Which destination would you choose to go to next? Have you ever experienced a 'culture shock' (meaning an unexpected aspect of another culture that is very different from your own)?
Work
Most adults spend between 15 and 48 hours a week at their jobs, depending on their age gender and nationality. Naturally this is a large percentage of their lives. As a qualified teacher I am fascinated by other occupations and what they entail as they are so different from my own. Many people underestimate their own knowledge and experiences, and discussing this with a tutor can highlight positive aspects that can help you to build a more positive outlook on that Monday morning meeting.
Dreams
What are your goals? If anything were possible, what would your reality look like? Your tutor will be curious to know as your personalized lesson-plan is created to help you get one step closer to realizing your dreams.
I look forward to connecting with you and helping you on your journey to success. If your have any questions, please feel free to send me a message or book a free trial lesson.
