📌 I'M CURRENTLY ONLY TEACHING COMPLETE BEGINNERS, BEGINNERS, AND INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS.
😊 Ciao! My name is Giorgia and I am a qualified and experienced teacher of Italian from Rome!
👩🏻🎓 My studies: I studied Italian linguistics in Rome (BA) and at the University of Oxford (MPhil), where I specialised in Italian dialectology and philology. I also hold an MA in Applied Linguistics from UCL where I was able to further my knowledge in second language acquisition, bilingualism, and cultural identity.
📜 Teaching certifications: in 2016 I got the DITALS certification to qualify as a Teacher of Italian as a Foreign Language.
👩🏻🏫 Work experience: I started teaching Italian in 2014 at Royal Holloway, University of London and I never stopped. I have been teaching ever since and I have taught students from all over the world. I have been teaching Italian online since 2018. You can also find me on Instagram as @imitalish for more content on the Italian language and culture.
✌🏼I'm a very laid-back teacher. I like to have fun! I believe the lesson should be enjoyable for both the teacher and the student. It should be an hour of your day where you can just escape and virtually immerse yourself in the Italian world.
🇮🇹 Italian may seem quite intimidating at first, but once we start studying it together you'll soon realise that with lots of motivation, consistency, and with the right method, nothing is impossible! I adopt a communicative approach, so we try to learn from the language in use from the very beginning. We learn a language to be able to communicate, right? I can't promise you're going to learn everything in a month or two. This depends on many many factors. And it changes for each student. But I can promise you that you'll be able to say your very first few sentences from day 1!
📚 Materials: I use many different materials - ppt presentations through screen-sharing, pdfs, videos, audios, etc. We can read books together or just have a conversation if you like. I also assign homework and activities to keep practising outside of the lesson, but that's up to you if you want to do them or not.

The classes with Giorgia only get better. She really knows what she's doing, she pays attention to everything you're saying, helps you when necessary and is really patient and cool. Something I absolutely love is that after every class she sends a pdf file with some feedback, which are always really helpful.

I had an excellent session with Giorgia! This was my first lesson with her. I had to reschedule with her at a minutes notice which left her unprepared and I STILL COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER LESSON! She did an amazing job at explaining things so that I could understand them. I noticed she is very patient, friendly and genuine in her desire to help her students learn Italian. She did a great job typing things out so that I can use it for studying. She is by far the best tutor I have had and I will be buying many more lessons!
