Being sick and seeing the doctor

Hi All,

One thing I can remember very vividly from my travels, is being sick and having to see the doctor in a foreign country and not being able to speak the language. This first happened to me in China, and a Mandarin speaking friend helped me communicate with the doctor.

Learning to discuss basic body parts and basic symptoms is a very important topic when you decide to learn a language for fluency,travelling or business purposes so I include a lesson on some simple medical words useful for communication with doctors in all my language courses.

Do you have any memories of needing to see a doctor and not knowing the doctor's language?
