The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on fifth day of the fifth lunar month. It is an ancient traditional festival in China and called Duan Wu Jie in Chinese.
This Festival originates from China. At first, it is a festival of eliminating diseases and epidemic prevention. In the Spring and Autumn Period, a famous minister named Qu Yuan of the Chu Kingdom drowned himself into Miluo river on this day, then the festival become to commemorate this minister Qu Yuan.
On this day, people will clean their house and insert moxa and calamus grass. This grass can drive miasma away. The Children will wear perfume bag. Young girl and children also tied five-color thread around their wrists, ankles and necks. It is said that wearing the colored threads can avoid injury from category pests.
Over all, Dragon Boat Festival is a significant and interesting holiday!
