Learn Russian with the help of Poetry. (A.Block's Poem)

One of the best way to learn and practice Russian - to learn poems. Written in Saint Petersburg in 1912, its philosophical  mood reflects the eternal issue.

Ночь, улица, фонарь, аптека,
Бессмысленный и тусклый свет.
Живи ещё хоть четверть века —
Всё будет так. Исхода нет.

Умрёшь — начнёшь опять сначала
И повторится всё, как встарь:
Ночь, ледяная рябь канала,
Аптека, улица, фонарь. 

English translation:

 
Night, street, lantern, pharmacy,
Pointless and dim light.
Live even for a quarter of a century -
Everything will be the same. There is no exit.

If you die, it will start over again
And everything will go over as formerly:
Night, icy ripples of the canal,
Pharmacy, street, lantern.
