The magic e
6 years agoHas anyone heard of the magic e rule?
Basically the rule is:
"The magic e makes the vowel say it's name!"
I know that pronunciation is one of the hardest things in English. There are so many different ways we pronounce letters depending on the word. This rule will make it just a tad bit easier for you.
Here are a few examples where the rule is played out:
- pin and pine. The first word is pronounced with the i making an eh sound. The second one, the i says it's name. You pronounce the i as you do in the English alphabet.
Some more examples:
- mad made
- kit kite
- bat bate
- mat mate
- bit bite
This song, while a children's song, will show you exactly what I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZhl6YcrxZQ
