It is never too late to learn something new!
"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." - Mahatma Gandhi
Starting something new no matter who you are and no matter what age you are can make you feel nervous and maybe you will even notice butterflies in your stomach! I remember the first time I had to talk to someone using the few words I had learned of another language. I was so scared I was going to say something stupid! The thing that I didn't realise was that the other person just wanted to help me learn and wasn't going to laugh at my mistakes.
Sometimes taking the first step towards applying for a course or a job or even taking an exam can be so difficult! One big example of this in my life is learning how to drive.
I am almost 32 years old and I do not have a drivers licence. I decided that this year I would get over my fear of failure and just...go with the flow! Once I had made up my mind I decided to book my driver theory test. This is a practical exam that everyone in Ireland has to study for before they have any driving lessons.
I studied for over a month for my test and I was really nervous about the big day! I really hoped I wouldn't make a huge mistake and all my hard work would go down the drain! Thankfully this was not the case and I passed my exam with flying colors.
I realise now that I had nothing to worry about and that the biggest obstacle to achieving your goals and dreams is your own mind!
Maybe you have a list of things that you have been putting off because you are too scared or maybe you think you should have learned them when you were younger. I am telling you now that this not the case! You can learn whatever you want at any stage of life. Maybe you want to learn how to ride a bike, perhaps you dream of changing your profession or maybe you want to start learning a new language. Never stop learning. You can do it!
Why not start today! Have you ever heard the phrases in bold throughout this article? Why not find out what the mean and try using them in a sentence. And remember...it's never to late to learn something new!
