About Me
Hi! My name is Max. I’m a native Japanese speaker from Kobe, Japan and I can’t wait to be your Japanese teacher. When I was in high school, I had a chance to study abroad. I went to the United States and graduated from high school and university. There, I majored in Linguistics and learned how to teach English. I was working as a recruiter hiring non-Japanese people who are interested in working in Japan and Japanese people who were studying overseas wanting to get a job when they return. I was also a trainer helping people to become a teacher. So, I love traveling! I have lived and worked in LA, Chicago and NYC in the past. I have traveled to many other countries.
I have started teaching as a teaching assistant in Japanese classes when I was going to college. For the last 20 years, I've been helping new employees to get adjusted to their lives in Japan. Teaching basic Japanese was one of the support I was providing. I have helped my friends to pass JLPT. I have also supported foreign tourists as a volunteer guide in Tokyo, Osaka and Hiroshima. Therefore, I am confident that I can support beginner level students well. I love seeing their smiles when they were able to use the language that they learned with locals. That’s the best thing when you are learning a new language. We will talk a lot in my class. That's the best way to gain confidence.
When you take a class with me, I will make a customized lesson that is relevant to your needs. My lessons are designed with your goals in mind. I can create lessons to include material that helps you become more confident. For more advanced students, I can create interview practice sessions since I have been in HR for many years. We can practice role-playing in my lesson. Of course, I can choose a textbook if you like, and go over the grammar and vocabulary as well. I can create homework excises that are fun and relevant to your needs. I love helping people achieve their Japanese language goals and I can’t wait to share knowledge with you and have fun at the same time.
