About Me
Hello,
My name is Argyro (I know it is a bit difficult to pronounce. Call me Argy (=RG)! Better? :-)
I come from Greece (a native Greek speaker), and I love teaching modern and ancient Greek!
I hold a four-year Bachelor's degree in "History and Archaeology" from the University of Ioannina (that gives me teaching and pedagogical proficiency), and a Master's degree from the University of Oxford. I hold several teaching certificates from Greece, England (QTS), and Scotland (GTCS), and I am a member of the Oxford Education Society.
I have mentored for MoMA’s courses at Coursera, and I was one of the ten first mentors who were asked to train the new Coursera mentors. I have taught students that were preparing to take exams in modern Greek, ancient Greek, and English.
For me, a good teacher has to be a learner himself as well as a good listener. The latest courses I attended had to do with Special Education, Mentoring, and Teaching Greek as a Second / Foreign Language.
I am not at all an austere teacher. Actually, I do my best to create a bond with my students and make my lessons as fun as possible.
During the first lesson, we will set the overall goals, objectives & what we want you to take away from our lessons. I will suggest certain placement tests so that we can have a clearer idea of your language level as well as of your type of learning.
Making connections between the new information and the prior knowledge, between the language we will be learning and other languages, integrating arts, music, movies & every other creative option are only some of the methods I will be using to facilitate your learning.
I hope to see you soon! :-)
