I was born in Japan and studied in Canada and USA. When I was studying music in LA, I learned Brazilian music and a couple of years later I went to Brazil and met my husband. I didn't know how to speak Portuguese at that time, I only knew how to sing in Portuguese, but from the very first day of Brazil I learned how to have fun and communicate with people without knowing much of the theory and vocabulary. I’m from Yokohama, one of the biggest cities in Japan, located on Tokyo Bay just South of Tokyo, so I speak and teach Tokyo dialect, also known as standard dialect. My major was English language and literature and I did my graduate thesis on intercultural communications.
