My name is Jamie Chen. I have been teaching Verbling for six years. My approach to teaching is immersive language learning, which means I will speak in Mandarin and expect students to do the same. You will find yourself applying what’s in the book immediately and building confidence in speaking to natives.
I have experience teaching absolute beginner to intermediate Mandarin learner (for those who doesn’t have Chinese background). After years of teaching, I have developed a way of teaching without over-explaining and leaving time for practicing.
I also have experience offering free-talk lessons to overseas Chinese. Many students who have a Chinese background struggle to express themself accurately. The reasons are usually a lack of vocabulary and incorrect sentence structures. You might have questions about words that sound alike or how to express something in a Chinese way. We will discuss the language with the culture involved.
I encourage students who want to book a trial lesson to write me a message about their level and goal before booking. I teach with textbooks. The textbook series I am currently using is 當代中文課程 (traditional) and HSK (simplified).

I really enjoyed my first session with Jamie. She's an excellent teacher. Very patient, kind and fun to learn from. She knows where i'm at and she start from there. I had a wonderful learning experience with Jamie. I would definitely continue to learn with Jamie go forward. :-)
The only downside, though was the Verbling audio and video, I'm not sure why i can not start the lesson there. I could not see Jamie or hear her at the start. So Jamie was very switched on to change over to Skype, again thank you Jamie very much. Can't wait to have more lessons with you.
