About Me
Hello, I am Cécile, a native French teacher from Paris and a qualified secondary school teacher in Modern Languages. I have been teaching French for 21 years and love it !
My varied experience in French teaching has broadened my understanding of approaching French as a foreign language, to benefit either a school pupil already familiar with some basics, or an adult who can be a complete beginner or at an advanced level.
I have taught secondary school pupils in schools, summer schools and privately, also adult learners from total beginner to advanced level both privately and in universities through Lifelong Learning Centres.
I love meeting new students from different countries. They have sometimes shared with me some incredible cultural hind sights or simply their favourite classical music composer or instrument.
In my spare time I read French literature, I love books, and find it also provides me with newer and contemporary figures of speech, for example. I also cook and enjoy the outdoors.
I have had excellent feedback from students either in classes (mature students) or from private one-to-one students.
I take a personal and genuine interest in my students' progress. I keep myself informed of the different ways to expose oneself to French: podcasts of documentaries or interviews, or online news websites, French cinema, French comics/graphic art even (which I love).
Having trained as an artist (painter and ceramics) years ago, I have been told that my lessons are original, fun and engaging. I spend a long time preparing my lessons, using online whiteboards but also researching the appropriate documentary or film extract or exercise. I think I have an artistic approach to teaching, in that every lesson is a creative challenge for me.
