About Me

Hello!
If you are looking for the best of the best--a dedicated, knowledgeable teacher with superior credentials, experience, and temperament, I am the one for you.
I am the right teacher for intermediate and advanced adult and young-adult students who appreciate a prepared and organized but still fun and relaxed approach to their language-learning process.
I have a Master's degree in English, a graduate certificate in Instructional Design, certifications to teach from several states in the U.S., WI DPI certification in English as a Second Language and English Language Arts, and decades of experience teaching. I scored in the 98th percentile on the GRE in verbal reasoning and have learned foreign languages myself, so I know how you feel and the challenges you face. I also currently teach English as a Second Language at the Technical University in Milwaukee, WI.

As a linguist, I can help you perfect your conversation. I am a grammar and style wizard, so if you need someone to help you with compositions, presentations, or dissertations, I am the person for you. If you are a person who enjoys creative writing, you will be happy to know that I have had short stories and poetry published in online magazines and my young-adult novel "Backbiters" was released in 2017 (you can see it on Amazon!), I have a New York literary agent repping my memoir in verse (also on Amazon now--"spoonfuls from an overeater," and I have published collections from other offers from all over the world. In other words, I can help you polish your creative pieces.

I have taught ages 5 to 70+. I have taught face-to-face and online. Besides my native language of English, I speak Spanish and some French and Japanese and a bit of Italian (and have done a bit of Mandarin study though I have not reached proficiency yet; Portuguese is next!). Regardless of your native language, I am willing to learn about it, so I can best help you learn English. Learning a language takes time and effort, but I can make it as fun and efficient as possible for you, using dedication, compassion, and effective pedagogy.

When I am not teaching, I have many interests. I read. I write. I love theater, art, and blues music. I swim, kayak, bike, run, and do yoga. I have to be active because I love to go to ethnic restaurants and cook ethnic food –- of course traveling to other countries to experience new cultures is the best! I also have an addiction to documentaries of all sorts because life is so interesting and a guilty pleasure of watching talent T.V. auditions. :)
Whatever your interests, needs, and goals, I can help you reach them by assisting you to learn accurate, useful, and beautiful English. Let’s start now!

I've just finished the trial class with Leea. She's an amazing, professional English teacher. She prepared support materials about her class and tried to know what I want to get from this course in order to satisfy my goals. Thank you Leea!
