About Me
Привет! :) My name is Petr (Пётр). I was born and raised in Moscow, Russia, but I currently live in the U.S., so if you live in the Western Hemisphere, my schedule will work just great for you. I speak fluent English and am conversant in Spanish and German, so if you speak any of those languages, I will be happy to use them with you. I also speak and understand a little French and Arabic.
I have been teaching on Verbling for over 9 years (over 6,000 lessons taught).
I hold a bachelor's degree in Teaching Foreign Languages and Cultures from a university in Moscow, and a master's degree in Language Education (Curriculum & Instruction) from a university in the U.S., as well as a postgraduate diploma in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language from Moscow State University. I have many years of experience teaching Russian as a Foreign Language and English as a Second Language (ESL) in both Russia and the U.S. I currently teach Russian and German at Texas A&M University (one of the largest universities in the U.S.).
I'm also a co-founder, author, and editor of a successful Russian learning app with over 1,700 paying subscribers (all my Verbling students get free access to it).
I'm very friendly, easy-going, and flexible in my lessons. I'm not a big fan of the "Russian only" approach (I think this method is only necessary for group lessons with multilingual students), and I prefer to take advantage of my near-native command of English (and other languages I know), although ultimately I cater to any student's needs. I always make sure that my language input (in any form, from me speaking to the materials I use) is comprehensible, interesting and/or relevant to the student, and reasonably challenging (not overwhelming).
If you have any questions about my lessons, feel free to shoot me a message, or just book a trial or full 60-minute lesson with me (be sure to use the discount code under my video).
Looking forward to meeting you soon! До встречи! :)
