About Me
My name is Ligia, nice to meet you! I was born and raised in South Africa and went to school there where I learnt to speak English, Afrikaans, and Portuguese.
I have a Tesol certificate from Witwatersrand University in South Africa and taught English to the university students there from all over the world. I also taught music for four years at an English International School, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I like to motivate my students by helping them to feel comfortable and discussing interesting, relevant topics. My style is very communicative. I like to help my students learn in context and motivate them using engaging topics and authentic materials such as video clips, articles, etc. I focus a lot on fluency during classes and can help you with your pronunciation and intonation.
I conduct classes according to your objectives and interests and can focus more on general or specific English.
You will receive oral feedback throughout the class as this is essential to help you learn how to improve and what to focus on.
I teach Beginner students to Intermediate students and focus on adults but i teach children aged 8 plus.
I'm also very interested in music. I have a diploma from Northdene Academy of Fine Arts. I've taught music theory, and practical on the organ and keyboard and prepared pupils for music theory exams, the history of music as well as practical exams for fifteen years.
In terms of my hobbies -I love music, reading, playing the keyboard and teaching English and I hope to teach for many more years.
