About Me
I have been working as a professional English teacher for 16 years full- time. I have also taught Spanish, French, and Italian. I have a bachelor's degree (B.A.) from the University of California in Language, worked with the United States Peace Corps in Africa as an English teacher, and also with the Cambridge School international school-system. I am a qualified teacher and have ESL, TOESL and TEFL certificates. I am also IELTS exam trained.
At this time I work with intermediate to advanced speakers looking to expand their skills. I am open to students of all backgrounds, beliefs, personalities, and nationalities - there is no room for discrimination in my classroom.
I naturally have the ideal and "neutral" American accent from the Northern Midwest of the United States. This is the accent that radio and television personalities train to speak like and is a common reasons students choose to work with me. I am trained and experienced in English linguistics and use this to help my students improve pronunciation.
I teach accent reduction, business English, English for travel, intermediate to advanced conversation, verb exercises, colloquial practice, and listening comprehension. I help with all international exam preparations and interviews.
My teaching style in communicative. The goal of my lessons is that my students speak clearly and effectively from the beginning. Speaking a new language is all about being able to talk, so that is the priority! Learning a language should be fun and challenging at the same time - my lessons do both.
