10 facts about the Georgian language


  1. Georgian alphabet is thought to originate in 3rd century BC (some date it even back to the 5th century).
  2. There are at least 18 dialects and three languages spoken (Mengrelian, Svan, Laz) in Georgia.
  3. Modern Georgian alphabet is the 3rd alphabet to emerge in the Georgian language.
