About Me
Hello, Korean learners!
Are you looking for an efficient Korean teacher? Here I am! I can help you :)
According to this TED talk[1], there are 5 principles and 7 actions to learn a new language quickly.
I will teach you based on these principles and actions and show you what you need to do so that you can learn quickly and efficiently. I will also be there to help you practice. Below is a link and summary to the principles and actions. I hope you can watch it and learn more about this unique method.
They introduce the concept of a language parent who can understand what you want to say and responds to your mistakes through conversation, helping you learn and adjust gradually.
It also says TALENT really doesn't matter when learning a new language! Don't worry about your language talent and don't be afraid to make mistakes!
I have experience in teaching foreign friends for over a year now and despite it being a short amount of time, they have vastly improved. That's why I believe I can help you too.
Let's dive in and learn!
Five Principles
- Focus on language content that is relevant to you
- Use your new language as a tool to communicate (even from Day 1)
- When you first UNDERSTAND the MESSAGE you will UNCONSCIOUSLY acquire the language
- Physiological training is needed (talking makes use of muscles)
- Psyco-physiological state matters (when you are happy, relaxed, then you will learn)
Seven Actions
- Listen a lot (brain soaking, listen even though you are not understanding it)
- Focus on getting the meaning FIRST
- Start mixing (of nouns, verbs, and adjectives which lead to expression, then you can grow exponentially)
- Focus on the core (3000 words gives 80% coverage)
[Language learning week 1: Learn the tool box - what is this; how do you say; I don't understand]
[Week 2: Learn pronouns, common verbs, and adjectives]
[Week 3: learn glue words (conjunctions)
- Get a language parent (a safe and confident environment)
[Language parents rule 1: works to understand what you are saying]
[Rule 2: does not correct mistakes]
[Rule 3: confirm understanding by using correct language]
[Rule 4: Uses words the learner knows]
- Copy the face
- Direct connection to mental images
