About Me

Come learn the second most spoken language in the world with me!

I come from the country with the biggest amount of Spanish speakers in the world, Mexico! I would love to help you learn or practice Spanish. I have been teaching Spanish for 10 years, I have taught people from all over the world in many different countries.

My lessons are active and fun, with me, you will be able to express yourself from the very beginning, so you can communicate in no time. I know how frustrating it is to study a language for many months and can’t communicate at all (I have been there).

My passion to travel and live in different countries such as Mexico, Spain, UK, The Netherlands, Syria, Cameroon, and the US, (where I taught Spanish), has helped me open my vision, been empathic with multicultural people, sociable and easy to adapt.

Learning languages enriches and allows us to communicate with one another and helps to understand and respect different cultures, with which we share the same world.

I would love to help you with your

Marua is engaging, perceptive, personable, highly intelligent, and sometimes downright funny. She has taught students at all levels in multiple countries over the years, and over time she seems to have a collected a wealth of materials which she has at her fingertips, as I’ve seen during classes when an unexpected topic comes up and she quickly puts something relevant on the screen. I have found her highly adaptive to my own style of learning, which isn’t really “by the book,” so I suspect her adaptivity would translate to most any student who had a real desire for learning. She has a superb sense of when to correct a student’s errors in speaking and when to leave other errors for later, which to me is a difficult but crucial balance to maintain pedagogy and flow simultaneously. She encourages the student not to fear making mistakes, with an open recognition that mistakes are a part of learning. And I don’t need to worry that there are days when I’m tired or my language synapses seem stuck in neutral; she simply adjusts to it, with encouragement and reassurance that learning a language is a gradual process that doesn’t go in a straight line.

I’ve found that Marua has an excellent ‘sixth sense’ of how to infuse class work with cultural references in a way that helps both language and culture ‘come alive.’ For me, that has proven to be a powerful synergy which has helped me learn more about life as well as language. I have the impression that her travel and work with a variety of people on multiple continents is part of why she’s so able to make real connections with students from everywhere, but there’s also an intangible part that simply seems to come from who she is. In so many ways, she just ‘gets it.’

I’m looking at her bio on Verbling now, and I can say from my own experience – it’s all true, and a lot more. Marua is superb, and she’s delightful. I recommend her highly.

Marua is such an engaging teacher, learning spanish has gone from something I did to reach an end result to something I also just really love as a hobby! She is great at mixing personal conversation with more technical materials & homework, all in a structure based on what your needs and wishes are. We do everything from talking about our lives, to grammar, slang vocabulary and translating my favorite spanish songs. Each class is different and really fun, and I think that's why my Spanish is improving so quickly! Even when I'm fully fluent, I would probably keep doing classes with her just for the experience :) I love Marua!
