About Me

I am a native English speaker with 23 years experience teaching English as a foreign language. During my teaching career, I have helped thousands of private students from all over the world. In addition to this, I have worked in several academies where the students have been working towards Cambridge exams (PET, FCE, CAE and CPE), IELTS, TOEIC. Whilst working at Isabell International School in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, I was solely responsible for every aspect within the English Department. I have been teaching English online for the last 8 years and have given over 5,500 classes.

I like to use a variety of resources including course books and online interactive materials. Some adults have required everyday conversation and these sessions, based on dialogue and role-play, have been tailor made to their individual needs. I value highly the elicitation of answers and I believe in the importance of making each lesson interesting, varied and fun, while ensuring that the basic language skills: speaking; listening; reading; writing, as well as: grammar; vocabulary; pronunciation are covered.

I am an independent, hardworking and reflective person who enjoys a challenge. I use my initiative when teaching and I am flexible and adaptable to students' needs. I am friendly and approachable and this enables me to communicate effectively with students. I take a great interest in people which allows me to be open and this encourages openness in return, allowing the teaching and learning process to be successful.

In 2002, I carried out an intensive one month CELTA course, at Sussex Downs College, Eastbourne and gained a Distinction. In addition to this I hold a First Class Bachelor of Science Degree. Having lived in Spain for 23 years, I am a competent Spanish speaker.

I am super happy with having Heidi as my English teacher. I've improved a lot in just two lessons. She is very kind and gentle but also focused on the learning part. You can agree with her the aim of the lessons, for example if you prefer to learn more about grammar than writing and this is quite good as you feel the lesson much more personalized. I'll keep on with Heidi to get my CAE certificate and then the IELTS!

I've had 11 lessons with Heidi and found her to be a great teacher. I'm working on the Cambridge exam CAE with her. At first, I tried to study for the exam by myself but I realized that I need someone who can help me with it. For that purpose, she is perfect for me.
I was so surprised that she has tons of materials for the test. She is good at finding my weak areas and using materials and methods such as pronunciation, grammar, and phrasal verb studies to help strengthen these areas. I found working with her is much easier to prepare for the test.
The other thing that I like about her is she is a really passionate teacher. She always tries to do her best in the lesson. Sometimes, there are moments where we've done our work for a lesson and we only have one minute or so. However, she tried to find what she can do until the last minute.
I'm really happy that I can work on the test with such a fantastic teacher!
