Hello everyone! My name is Hawon (or Mackie) and I am a Korean tutor. I have 3 years of experience of teaching Korean to children and over 4 years of experience of teaching Korean to students over the age of 12, ranging from 12~45.
안녕하세요! 제 이름은 하원이고 한국어 과외 선생님 입니다. 저는 3년 동안 아이들에게 한국어를 가르친 경험이 있고, 4년 동안 12세-45세 학생들에게 한국어를 가르친 경험이 있습니다.
I currently live in Vancouver and finished a degree at SFU with a BGS in Education and a double minor in Social Justice Education and Learning Disabilities.
저는 지금 밴쿠버에 살고 있습니다. 저는 SFU 라는 대학에서 교육을 전공하고 사회정의 교육과 학습장애 교육을 부전공으로 공부했습니다.
These are several options in which you can choose from when we are having a lesson:
- Reading and writing Hangul
- Grammar based lessons (textbook optional)
- K-pop/k-drama translation
- Conversation practice (free talk!)
- Writing/homework help
- TOPIK prep
- Other methods that you might suggest!
다음은 레슨을 하실 때에 선택할 수 있는 옵션들입니다:

- 문법 위주 레슨 (교과서 사용 옵션)

Lastly, I will not only teach you grammar, but also the slangs, memes, popular cultures and other trends in Korea that the textbook does not usually talk about! I'm very confident in my ability to teach and that you will not only become a fluent speaker, but also a learner that talks like a native Korean!

Hawon is an extremely knowledgeable teacher! I'd recommend her class to anyone, particularly if you are struggling with grammar. She's able to explain anything thoroughly and takes excellent notes. She has fun materials and speaks English with native fluency.

Hawon helped me go from no knowledge of Korean to feeling confident in all of the basics in very little time at all. She peppers in a lot of insights into the culture and I even now have a favourite Korean meme! The lessons are always both fun and productive - would highly recommend!
