Welcome😊 Are you looking for the most fun and efficient way to learn Korean? Congratulations on visiting the right tutor.👏👏 I am passionate about languages, and most of all, I love teaching the Korean language. I hold a bachelor's degree from Kookmin University, Seoul, and completed a post-degree program from a state college in Canada. Also, I ❤️ listening to music, both POP & K-POP.
I teach all levels from absolute beginner to proficiency and have taught over 2,700 lessons to speakers of other languages for the last 5 years. 😊 I have seen common mistakes beginners and advanced speakers make and helped them better understand the Korean language. My students include corporate workers, teachers, actors, and Korean descendants. Meeting people from all walks of life, I'm good at personalizing lessons depending on students' situations. As a language learner, I learned English, French, and Chinese. Therefore, I understand the struggle of learning a foreign language well and combine both experiences, as a learner and a tutor, into the lesson.
I always encourage students to speak a lot in Korean and not worry about making mistakes because we can advance upon those mistakes. I am happy to see my students grow more confident in their Korean language abilities. 👏👏 We often share different cultural knowledge and broaden our perspective on the worldview.🎎 We, humans, indeed learn best when we have fun. I have been taking lessons from Jess for around a year and a half. I really love our classes together. We have worked through traditional textbooks, materials that Jess made herself, and TOPIK prep materials. I am confident she will be able to help you learn Korean. Jess really takes the time to customize each lesson. For example, I like to cook, so she planned several lessons all about food and cooking. She is always willing to answer my questions, and never makes me feel like my question was silly. Every lesson begins with conversation practice, and she is always very patient. She waits for me to ask for help if I can't figure out what to say. I don't feel judged if I make a mistake. I really appreciate that in a teacher. I really can't recommend her enough!

Jess is an excellent language instructor, I am thrilled to have found her here. My lessons started at the beginning of the year and so far we have completed 30 hours of work. What I learned in my one to one lessons with Jess would not have been achievable had I continued to study alone. She keeps a pace that's manageable so that I feel like I'm achieving a lot while not feeling too overwhelmed. Every lesson starts off with some questions in korean to go over what I've studied so far, while adding in new vocabulary and gives me a chance to pick up on real life conversation points. She is very patient and always eager to help. Listening, speaking and practical learning activities are all included which is invaluable when it comes to my personal development in all aspects of reading, writing and building my fluency in Korean.
