How do I open available hours?
6 年前Hello my fellow teachers!
I am brand new on this platform and was wondering how to open my available teaching hours. What I mean is, that I do only from full to full, but not .30 to .30 or any other minute constellation.
On my calendar I marked "available" only the full hour fields (not the half hour fields below) so that I avoid students booking from .30 to .30.
Or should I mark both fields as available?
Also, in case you see something "weird" on my profile, please let me know so that I can apply the changes necessary.
Thank you for your information!

Hi Elizabeth, welcome to verbling! I had a couple of things I wanted to suggest. First you might get more response and you might want to ask other questions in the teacher's discussion group. I saw this in the support community, which is a mixed forum for students and teachers and more for language learning questions. Secondly, I think Melody may be wrong with her advice - I think - ?? I looked at your profile and it looks to me like you are only available for half hour blocks of time. Certainly I've never seen a schedule that looks like yours. Has anyone been able to schedule an hour lesson? You might want to ask verbling support --
In my experience students just schedule both from the hour to the hour and from the half hour to the half hour. I end up with half hour blocks of time unscheduled. If you discover a solution I'd love to know!
Good luck!!
You can only set availability in 1 hour blocks, so even if a student books a 30 minute trial lesson with you, the whole hour that that 30 minute trial lesson is scheduled is full and no one else can book a lesson with you. The other reality is that when you have other lessons, that are not trials, those lessons are always, by default, 1 hour lessons.
Thank you for your quick answer. So, I did right when on my calendar I only set the full hour fields (16h, 17, 18,...) to "available" suggesting that I only accept lessons starting at full hours, and left the "half hour" fields (16:30, 17:30, 28:30...) untouched? I think, if I opened the half-hour fields, students might book a class starting at 16:30. Thank you for your patience :-)
Well, the Verbling schedule system is going to count it as an hour either way, meaning if a student books a lesson at 16:00. The hour blocked off on your availability would be 16:00-17:00. The same is also true if a student booked a lesson at 16:30. Your availability, blocked off by the student, would then be 16:30-17:30. Essentially however you've set up your schedule, on your profile, is exactly how students will be able to book your classes for the hour, even if they have only just booked a 30 minute trial lesson, as the Verbling booking system blocks off chunks of time only in 60 minute increments due to the fact that lesson on Verbling are, by default, 1 hour lessons.
