Как вы думаете, русский - это трудный язык?
- I believe it is not as difficult as people think it is. I have been a student here since April 2017 and the progress has been amazing.
Grammar seemed confusing (not difficult) at first, but then building a story around it has made things a lot easier to associate them.
Can Russian language be confusing - Yes.
Is it difficult - Absolutely Not.

Haha absolutely. I write a lot, by hand, instead of using the computer. In fact everything has been hand written so far, a looot.

What has made things easier ?
- Building a story around grammar rules. I visualise / imagine that an old man with a long white beard and his assistant are building the rules for the Russian language, and write dialogues on what they would be discussing. This has become a series of episodes.
- Visualising the rules, the above characters have helped me in visualising the rules / endings of cases, and retain in memory.
- A lot of stories, there are episodes on an Old lady and her grandson, random dialogues and blogs that is written using all the new words, cases, rules that are learn during the week.
(Of course there will be a lot of mistakes, but then they are necessary too, to understand better)

I think that when discussing language difficulty, it's important to recognize that difficulty often depends on the usage and level being used. For example, English is a very easy language to begin learning. It has no case system (aside from nominative vs. oblique pronouns), no genders, few verb conjugations, perfective tenses are constructed with a helping verb, and regular word order. Anyone who knows 100 English words could probably be understood in the most basic circumstances. But English words have very irregular pronunciations, there are many exceptions in spelling, some grammatical exceptions, a lot of colloquial speech, and an enormous lexicon of words derived from many different languages. So English is easy to begin and gain very basic proficiency in, but it is much more difficult to master or gain fluency in. English's "bump in difficulty" is at higher levels, so beginners are not intimidated.

Compare this to Russian. Six grammatical cases, verb conjugations for each person and number and gender in the past tense, perfective is a different form which must be memorized by rote, three genders, word order changes depending on speaker and context. Learning 100 Russian words does nothing if you don't know the grammar, because the words all change depending on what meaning you want to give them. So Russian is very difficult to begin, but maybe gets easier once you understand the grammar. Russian's "bump in difficulty" is at the very beginning, so beginners are intimidated.

Russian is not the most difficult language, but I think that it's the most difficult language which is globally used. Finnish has 15 grammatical cases, but it doesn't get much attention because the only people who speak Finnish are the Finns. Russian is internationally important. Compared to the other internationally relevant languages like English, French, Chinese, or Spanish, I think Russian is by far the most grammatically complex, and it's also not related to any of the others which makes it seem more alien.

The Russian language is very hard because of its grammary. You need to consider too many different cases. I'd like to talk to Russians. But it's not possible because of language.

You are right about the cases. But it is not so scary how it seems to be. That only depends on the method how you study and use the Russian language. If you learn not only endings and forms, but PHRASES, you start speaking Russian faster and much easier way
