My lessons are interactive and engaging. I will coach and support you every step of the way to ensure you become fully competent and confident when communicating in Romanian. I am happy to teach you in a way that suits you.
A typical lesson with me will involve lots of conversation, engaging activities to expand your vocabulary as well as useful techniques to improve your understanding of grammar. I would be delighted to create lessons specifically for you based on your current level and to help you achieve your aspirations. My lessons are supportive, fun, friendly, and motivating, and I can incorporate all four aspects of language learning (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).
🟢 Qualifications & Experience
• As an alumnus of Babes-Bolyai University, I achieved a degree in Foreign Languages, Literature, and Linguistics (Japanese Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Romanian Language and Literature, General Linguistics).
• I completed a post-graduation Japanese conversational course at the Cultural Japanese Centre of Babes-Bolyai University.
• I have been a full-time language tutor since March 2017, having offered over 6000 Romanian, Japanese and English lessons to students from all over the world (50+ countries) both online and in-person. Therefore, I have been exposed to a multicultural environment that has helped me to develop effective, interactive teaching techniques suitable for everyone.
• In addition to online language tutoring, I have also conducted group classes at the Cultural Japanese Centre in Cluj.
• Besides being a dedicated teacher, I can give you insights into Romanian culture and teach you idiomatic expressions that will make you sound more natural and native-like.

Camelia is a great teacher and I always look forward to our lessons! She is super positive and encourages me to try and do my best. She is also very good at teaching; has good materials prepared for each lesson, explains everything in a good way and makes a lot of time for practicing during the lessons. Salut! I just had my first Romanian lesson with Maria-Camelia today. WOW!
I'm a traveling singer and pianist. For fun, I started learning Romanian about 8 months ago, through audio tapes and a few trips to Romania. I just scored an amazing music opportunity in Bucharest, so I need to become conversational...ASAP.
After a quick search, I found Maria-Camelia here on Verbling! Once I saw her intro videos, I knew she was the perfect match for me. I quickly signed up for 10 lessons.
We started promptly at our scheduled time. And I promptlyyyy...forgot all of the Romanian I had ever learned, and turned into a blithering idiot.
Now, I usually get nervous when I speak Romanian with native speakers, but today I was OVER THE TOP. I kept rambling, and then kept apologizing to Maria-Camelia for rambling. Rinse and repeat for 20 minutes.
She had this amused look on her face the whole time. She knew that I was going to run out of steam eventually. She was right. She made me smile, and then we had a good laugh together.
At that point, I was able to calm down and focus on her instructions. The session went smoothly from that point on. She provided me with excellent online practice materials. She taught me new vocabulary and grammar and helped me with my pronunciation.
If you want a great Romanian language coach, you've found her. Maria-Camelia has an special ability to match our energy, and then take us where she had planned the whole time. Brilliant! ^_^
