About Me
You want to communicate in English at a higher level and become a more powerful speaker, For many people, the issue isn't how big their vocabulary is and how well they know grammar. The issue, in many cases, is a lack of confidence in their ability. If they can practice with a native speaker, and receive good feedback, they can become better speakers. The question is "How do I find someone to talk to and help me to gain that confidence?"

With over 12 years experience in instructing, both in front of a group of people and one-on-one, online and offline, I can assist you in reaching your English language speaking goals as well as build your confidence in your own ability.
Business English practice
As a business owner, I do specialize in the instruction of business English as I understand the challenges faced by business people when trying to communicate to and with their foreign clients. We will role play different situations that you may encounter, which will help you to gain an understanding of the cultural differences that may be preventing you from completing your business successfully.
The sessions are custom tailored to your requirements and industry, to ensure that you make the best use of your valuable time.
Feedback on any written materials such as resumes, emails, presentations and other materials can be requested as part of the customized sessions.
Interview practice
If you are trying to find work in a foreign company, we can practice to improve your interview skills. As a consultant in Canada, I was interviewed many times and I bring that knowledge to my clients through mock interviews and providing general and specific advice on how to behave and handle the stress of an interview. Many of my clients have expressed their thanks not only for helping them prepare but also for building up their confidence in their ability.
General conversation practice
If you have studied English in the past but have not used it extensively but are now finding that you need to remove the "rust" so that you can become more confident in your speaking ability, we can practice general conversations on many topics that we can both choose. You may be travelling for conferences or workshops or just for vacations and you want to make sure that you can be understood and understand the conversations taking place in hotels, restaurants and businesses.
IELTS and TOEFL practice
If you are preparing for either IELTS or TOEFL, you may not be too confident of completing the speaking portion. By practising with actual exam questions, you can understand what is required for a good score as well as gain that confidence that is necessary when yoiu first see the question.
Some background and other information
I have instructed in one-on-one and group settings with my groups ranging from 4 to 20 people. The levels have been from beginner to higher level English learners and people from all education and professional backgrounds. I now work with people that are Level B1+ or better.
I always try to engage all of my clients by being able to discuss many diverse topics and interests. I provide material on a wide range of topics to match your interests and needs. I provide immediate feedback and correct any issues without embarrassment to the you.

My trial lessons
During the trial session, we will spend the first few minutes getting to know each other. During the next part of the session I will ask you questions about your reasons for wanting to improve your English speaking ability. I will be assessing your ability during the session. I will give you feedback on your present speaking ability before talking about working together. The last 5-minutes will be going over how I can help you and what you want to gain from the sessions that we would schedule.

Michael is absolutely a wonderful person and helpful English teacher. My English is at the intermediate to higher level. I needed a tutor to help me prepare for interviews in the medical field.
