关于我
Hi! My name is Elma Janeth Perea. I am from Colombia. I am a Spanish speaker certified in English teaching. I have taught English and Spanish (children, adolescents and adults) at different universities and educational institutions of the region for more than 20 years, and I have a B2 level in French, which I am currently studying. I also have a Master degree in Translation, which has helped me understand how language works for both cultures. Currently, I am working as an English /Spanish teacher and also as a freelance translator/interpreter. I really enjoy talking to people and sharing what I know.
I think we really learn by doing, therefore, my teaching is based on the communicative approach, among others, since I know that the more we talk and interact in a language, the more we learn and improve our communicative skills; for this reason, I count on a wide range of material like Power Point presentations, pictures, readings, games, news articles, audios, posters, videos, etc. I always design the class according to each learner’s needs and preferences because learning a language should be an amusing and challenging experience, instead of a stressing or boring task where grammar is not necessarily the main goal. It can also be learned in a simple way.
I am an open person, with lots of patience and creativity, and I will be really pleased to be part of your learning experience, just let’s start!

Today was my 100th lesson with Elma. Since April, when I started taking classes with her I've learned so much and have become much more confident in my Spanish. Elma makes learning Spanish fun and always infuses elements of Colombian culture, music and food into the lessons. I can't wait to take 100 more classes.

Elma is the best Spanish teacher I've ever had! She understands that a core part of learning is practicing speaking, reading, and writing, and she uses all of the Verbling features to make your sessions fun + effective. She also understands how nervous learning a language can make someone but takes the pressure off so you can focus on learning the language and learning more about different Spanish-speaking cultures. BOOK HER!!!
